💡

Mẹo:

  • Luyện tập trước gương 10 lần
  • Tính giờ (1-2 phút, không quá dài)
  • Smile, eye contact
  • Không đọc, nói tự nhiên

3.2 Motivation (志望動機)

Q2: "Why do you want to join our company?" (志望動機は?)

Bad answer:

  • ❌ "Your company is big and famous"
  • ❌ "I need a job"
  • ❌ "Good salary"

Good answer structure:

  1. Company-specific reason: Something unique about THIS company
  2. Role alignment: How role fits your career goals
  3. Contribution: What you can bring

Example:

"I'm impressed by [Company]'s recent [product/initiative]. Having worked on similar projects at [Previous company], I believe my experience in [X] can contribute to [specific goal]. I'm particularly excited about [aspect of role] because it aligns with my passion for [Y]. I see this as an opportunity to grow while making meaningful impact."

Q3: "Why are you leaving your current company?" (転職理由は?)

Tricky question! Đừng nói xấu công ty cũ.

Bad answers:

  • ❌ "My boss is terrible"
  • ❌ "Company is going bankrupt"
  • ❌ "Coworkers are annoying"

Good answers:

  • ✅ "I want to grow in [new area] that current company doesn't offer"
  • ✅ "Seeking more challenging projects"
  • ✅ "Career change to [new field]"
  • ✅ "Company restructuring, looking for stability"

Example:

"I've learned a lot at my current company, but I'm looking for opportunities to work on [X type of projects], which your company excels at. I feel I've reached a plateau and want to challenge myself in a new environment."

Q4: "Why this role/industry?" (なぜこの職種・業界?)

Answer structure:

  1. Interest origin (when/how you became interested)
  2. Relevant experience/skills
  3. Future goals

Example (IT):

"I've been passionate about technology since university. At my current role, I've worked on [projects] and realized I want to specialize in [area]. Your company's focus on [technology/product] aligns perfectly with where I see the industry heading."

3.3 Experience & Skills (経験・スキル)

Q5: "What are your strengths?" (強みは?)

Structure:

  1. Name the strength
  2. Give example (STAR method)
  3. How it helps in this role

STAR method:

  • Situation: Context
  • Task: What you needed to do
  • Action: What you did
  • Result: Outcome (quantify if possible)

Example:

"My strength is problem-solving. At [Company], we faced [situation]. I [action], which resulted in [result - e.g., 30% efficiency increase]. I believe this skill will be valuable for [this role's challenge]."

Top strengths to mention:

  • Communication
  • Teamwork / Collaboration (和 - harmony)
  • Problem-solving
  • Fast learner
  • Detail-oriented (几帳面 - kichoumen)
  • Responsible (責任感 - sekininkan)

Q6: "What are your weaknesses?" (弱みは?)

Strategy: Name a real but minor weakness + show you're working on it.

Bad answers:

  • ❌ "I'm a perfectionist" (cliché, not real weakness)
  • ❌ "I'm always late" (major red flag)
  • ❌ "No weaknesses" (arrogant)

Good answers:

"I tend to be overly detail-oriented, which sometimes slows me down. I'm working on balancing thoroughness with speed by setting time limits for tasks and delegating when appropriate."

"Public speaking used to make me nervous. I've been improving by volunteering to present in team meetings and taking a communication course. I'm much more comfortable now."

Q7: "Tell me about a time you failed / faced a challenge"

Use STAR method:

Example:

S: "In my previous role, we had a tight deadline for a client project. T: I was responsible for the backend development. A: I underestimated the complexity and missed the initial deadline. I immediately informed my manager, worked overtime, and collaborated with a senior engineer. R: We delivered the project one week late but with high quality. I learned to better estimate tasks and ask for help earlier."

Key: Show what you LEARNED, not just the failure.

Q8: "Describe your biggest achievement"

Structure:

  1. Context
  2. Challenge
  3. Your action
  4. Quantified result
  5. Impact

Example:

"At [Company], I led a project to [goal]. It was challenging because [obstacle]. I [action], which resulted in [30% revenue increase / 50% faster processing / etc.]. This project was recognized by management and became a template for future projects."

3.4 Technical questions (for IT/Engineer)

Q9: "What programming languages/tools are you proficient in?"

Answer:

  • List languages/tools

Q12: "Describe your ideal work environment"

Safe answer:

"I thrive in collaborative environments where I can learn from experienced colleagues. I appreciate clear communication and constructive feedback. I also value a balance between teamwork and independent work."

Avoid:

  • Being too specific (fully remote, no meetings, etc.) → May not match
  • Complaining about current environment

Q13: "How do you handle disagreements with coworkers/manager?"

Japanese context: Emphasize 和 (harmony), not confrontation.

Example:

"I believe in respectful communication. If I disagree, I try to understand their perspective first. I present my viewpoint with data/reasoning, but ultimately respect the decision. If it's with my manager, I trust their experience and follow their lead."

Q14: "Tell me about a time you worked in a team"

Emphasize:

  • Collaboration (not solo heroics)
  • How you supported teammates
  • Team success > individual credit

Example:

"In my previous role, our team of 5 developed [project]. I was responsible for [part]. When a teammate fell behind, I helped by [action]. We delivered on time and the client was very satisfied. It reinforced my belief in teamwork."

  • Aligned with company's growth
  • Mix of technical + leadership

Example:

"In 5 years, I'd like to be a [senior role] with deep expertise in [area]. I hope to have contributed to significant projects here and perhaps mentor junior members. Long-term, I'm interested in [leadership/specialized IC track]."

Avoid:

  • "I want your job" (threatening)
  • "I'll start my own company" (disloyal)
  • "I don't know" (no ambition)

Q16: "What are you looking for in your next role?"

Structure:

  1. Growth/learning opportunities
  2. Challenge
  3. Company culture/values fit

Example:

"I'm looking for a role where I can deepen my expertise in [X], work on challenging projects that have real impact, and collaborate with talented teammates. Your company's focus on [Y] and culture of [Z] really resonates with me."

3.7 Salary & Conditions (給与・条件)

Q17: "What are your salary expectations?" (希望年収は?)

Strategy:

  1. Research market rate first (OpenSalary, Glassdoor)
  2. Give a RANGE (not exact number)
  3. Show flexibility

Example:

"Based on my research and experience, I'm looking for ¥6,000,000 to ¥7,000,000. However, I'm flexible and would like to hear your offer based on the full compensation package including benefits."

Avoid:

  • Saying exact number too early (lose negotiation power)
  • Saying "anything is fine" (undervalue yourself)

Q18: "When can you start?" (いつから働けますか?)

Typical:

  • If currently employed: "1-2 months" (need to give notice + handover)
  • If unemployed: "Immediately" or "Within 2 weeks"

Example:

"I need to give my current company one month's notice and ensure a smooth handover. I could start in approximately 6-8 weeks."

3.8 Company-specific (企業特有)

Q19: "What do you know about our company?"

Show you did research:

Q20: "What can you contribute to our team?"

Structure:

  1. Specific skills relevant to role
  2. Past achievements that prove it
  3. How it helps their goals

Example:

"With my [X years] experience in [area], I can immediately contribute to [specific project/goal]. At my previous company, I [achievement], which is similar to the challenges you mentioned. I'm also eager to learn from the team and grow together."

3.9 Japanese language (日本語)

Q21: "日本語はどのくらい話せますか?" (How's your Japanese?)

Be honest:

LevelAnswer
N5-N4"日常会話は大丈夫ですが、ビジネス日本語は勉強中です" (Daily conversation OK, studying business Japanese)
N3-N2"ビジネスレベルです。会議やメールは問題ありません" (Business level. Meetings and emails OK)

Q22: "Can you work in a Japanese-speaking environment?"

If weak Japanese:

"I'm comfortable with English and basic Japanese. I'm studying to improve and am confident I can communicate effectively with the team, especially in [international/IT] context."

3.10 Closing questions (最後の質問)

Q23: "Do you have any questions for us?" (何か質問はありますか?)

ALWAYS have 2-3 questions prepared!

Good questions:

    • "What are the immediate priorities for this position?"
    • "How is success measured in this role?"

9. Câu hỏi thường gặp (FAQ)

Q: Interview bằng tiếng Nhật hay tiếng Anh?
A: Phụ thuộc công ty. Công ty Nhật: Tiếng Nhật (90%). Foreign companies: English OK. Nếu không chắc, hỏi trước: "Will the interview be in English or Japanese?"

Q: Nếu không hiểu câu hỏi thì sao?
A: Hỏi lại (politely): "すみません、もう一度お願いできますか?" (Sorry, could you repeat that?). Better than answering wrong.

Q: Nên mang bao nhiêu bản CV?
A: 2-3 bản, ngay cả khi đã gửi online. Shows preparation.

Q: Có nên gửi thank-you email không?
A: YES, trong 24h. Tăng impression, shows professionalism.

Q: Final interview có khác gì?
A: Thường với President/Executive. Mostly formality (90% đã pass). Focus vào: Passion for company, culture fit, long-term commitment.

Q: Nếu bị reject, có nên hỏi feedback không?
A: Có thể, nhưng nhiều công ty Nhật không give specific feedback. Hỏi: "今後の参考のため、理由を教えていただけますか?" (For future reference, could you share the reason?)

Q: Có thể re-apply sau khi bị reject không?
A: YES, nhưng đợi 6-12 tháng, và cần có improvement rõ ràng (new skills, experience).

Q: Nên dress code thế nào nếu startup/IT?
A: Safe = Suit cho lần đầu. Nếu họ nói "casual OK", lần sau có thể business casual.
